Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive the hydrovac truck to excavation sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Set up and prepare the hydrovac truck for operation, including connecting hoses and checking equipment functionality.
  • Safely and accurately operate the high-pressure water system to break up soil and materials around underground utilities.
  • Operate the vacuum system to remove excavated materials from the excavation site and into the truck’s debris tank.
  • Ensure proper disposal of debris and comply with environmental and waste management regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the hydrovac truck to ensure its safe and optimal operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with the team and communicate effectively to ensure efficient excavation and completion of projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including excavation details, material quantities, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, depending on jurisdiction requirements.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment, such as hydrovac trucks, excavators, or similar machinery.
  • Knowledge of excavation techniques, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and utility locate markings.
